AKU-EB Hosts Summer Camp
Karachi, July 07: The 21st century is the century of partnerships, and the public and private sectors should join hands to reduce illiteracy, said Minister of State for Education Ghulam Farid Khatiya at the inaugural ceremony of the national summer camp for talented HSSC boys hosted by The Aga Khan University Examination Board (AKU-EB).
Every year, the IBBC requests one of its members to host a summer camp for the top six students of each board, based on their SSC results, and the responsibility has been assigned to AKU-EB this year. About 150 students from 26 different education boards across Pakistan will participate in this camp. The theme of this year's summer camp will be an introduction to universities, and what students should be thinking as they approach university education.
Khatiya believed that education systems should be more market-oriented so that there are no employment issues. He informed the participants that the existing scheme of studies from or classes 1 to Intermediate level have been revised according to emerging global trends. Dr Thomas Christie, Director, AKU-EB highlighted that students "need to have a problem oriented approach towards life" to be ready with creative and innovative solutions.
