Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party (STPP) leader Qadir Magsi and nine of his party activists have been booked by Sohrab Goth police on the directives of District and Sessions Judge Malir in a kidnapping case. The FIR was lodged on the complaint of a woman, whose minor son was allegedly kidnapped by them. The FIR was lodged under kidnapping and abetment charges.
According to Sohrab Goth police, they received a complaint from Azeema Bibi, wife of Alah Ditta, resident of Kachi Abadi, Saiful Goth, stating that Rajab, Munir, Dr Abdullah, Peer Abdul Wahid, Peer Mashooq Ali and four others (who were recognized during an identification parade) broke into her house on June 29 and demanded Rs200,000 in extortion. Upon her refusal, they abused her and kidnapped her nine-year-old son Rasheed.
According to her, the suspects had been demanding the amount for the past many weeks. Later, she discovered that the individuals demanding extortion were affiliated with the STPP, and they were committing the offence on the instigation of party chief Qadir Magsi.
Azeema Bibi stated that after the police station concerned refused to lodge her case, she filed an application in District Malir Court. Allowing her application (282/09), the District Malir Judge directed the police to lodge an FIR against Qadir Magsi and his party activists. Consequently, the FIR was registered and the case referred to investigation police.
According to the investigation officer, they have recorded the statement of the complainant and conducted a raid for the recovery of her son, but the suspects had shifted the child somewhere else. Azeema Bibi has also provided some cellphone numbers of the suspects who used to call her from those numbers. Further investigation is underway.
