Faisalabad: Famous nuclear scientist Dr Samar Mubarak Mand has revealed that the graduates of the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) are playing a vital role in the country's missile programme.

He was addressing the senior faculty members of the UAF at the New Senate Hall on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Samar said that the government had planned to upgrade various universities at a cost of Rs 20 billion to offer joint degree programmes to them.

Unveiling the objectives of his visit to the UAF, he said that he wanted to get first-hand information regarding the strength and weaknesses of higher education institutions so that the required funds could be arranged to develop collaboration in certain academic programmes with the universities of advanced countries.

Earlier, while briefing the nuclear scientist, UAF vice-chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan disclosed that the UAF had become a partner of the University of Kessal and four other universities of Germany. He said it would work as a member of the International Center for Development and Decent Work (ICDD) think tank for eradicating poverty and achieving employment.
