Islamabad : Girls again outsmarted boy students by securing top positions in Science and Humanities groups of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Part-I examinations, as Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) announced results.
There was only one boy who succeeded to grab third position in Humanities Group.
In Science Group, Numira Sadiq (Roll No. 947202) of Fazaia Inter-College Mushaf, Sargodha, got first position by securing 512 marks out of 525 marks. Hareem Nisar (Roll No. 952332) and Mahnoor Amin (Roll No. 952333) of Hitec School and College for Girls, Taxila Cantonment, grabbed second and third position with 510 and 508 marks respectively.
In Humanities Group, Afshan Zahra (Roll No. 987970) of H.H Shaikh Rashid Al Makhtoum Pakistan School, Dubai, UAE, bagged first position by securing 477 marks, while Muneera Bukhsh (Roll No. 987706) of Al-Aqeeq International School, Abe Baker Al Siddeaqe Road, Madina, Saudi Arabia, secured 466 marks and stood second. The only boy among the position holders was Hafiz Ahmad Ali of Institute of Islamic Sciences, Satra Meel (FA), Islamabad, who secured third position by obtaining 462 marks.
For the first time to encourage the students of SSC Part-I the federal board has announced cash prizes of Rs10,000, Rs7,000 and Rs5,000 for first, second and third position holders.
The examination was held in the month of March/April 2009. In Science Group 28,899 boys and 16,622 girls appeared out of which 14,916 boys and 12,251 girls passed the examination. In Humanities Group only 362 boys out of 2,187 and 3,368 girls out of 8,011 passed the examination as regular candidates.
Whereas in Science Group as private candidates, only 551 boys out of 4,095 and 377 girls out of 1,477 passed the examination. In Humanities Group (private candidates) 114 boys out of 1,545 and 269 girls out of 1,312 passed succeeded to get through.
This year total 28 unfair-means cases were reported in which 24 cases have been decided while 4 cases are still pending.
Zamurd Khan MD Bait-ul-Maal was the chief guest on the occasion. He congratulated all the successful students for the excellent performance and advised them to work hard and work for their country.
